A Victorian Sterling Silver cased three piece tea service comprising a sugar bowl, sugar tongs and milk jug. All three pieces are marked for the Sheffield silversmith Henry Stratford with date letters for 1890.
Interestingly the tongs, which have the same makers marks at the bowl and jug were assayed in London suggesting that Stratford bought in some of his wares.
The sugar bowl measures 7.5cm by 3.5cm and weighs 38.05g and has a gilt interiorThe Jug measures 8cm from the tip of the spout to the back of the handle and is 4cm deep. Weighing 32.8g this to has a gilt interior.The tongs are 8cm long and 2.5cm across the bowls. They weigh 9.6g The set is in its original fitted case which is a bit scuffed in places but which has kept the contents in very good condition.
