A Set of Tea Tongs by Henry Plumpton HM London circa 1761 (George III). A nice pair of tea tongs by the London silversmith Henry Plumton. Plumton registered his makers mark in 1761 allowing these to be dated with reasonable accuracy. The tongs are of relatively simple design compared to the more elaborate Rococco styles popular in the second half of the 18th century with straight arms ending in shell bowls. These appear to be in good original condition with no obvious repairs. The tongs measure 11.5cm and weigh 27.3g.
