A pair of Antique Balkan Silver Filigree and Coral Cufflinks/Buttons. The buttons are 18mm in diameter and 12mm high not including the link. The pair weighs 6.8 grammes and test as low grade silver.
These sorts of buttons were common in south eastern Europe (the Balkans and Dalmatian coast) and were worn with traditional costume throughout the 19th century. At the time local cultures disapproved of male jewellery and ornate buttons allowed men to show off their wealth and status.
