It may surprise you to discover that Bartlby isn’t my real name but it’s a name I’ve been using online for almost 30 years. Over those years I’ve been a mature student, a dealer in antiquarian books, a tai-chi teacher and I’ve become a parent. I think it was studying History at university that led to my becoming an antiquarian book dealer and maybe once you’ve spent a bit of time around the antiques trade you never quite leave it behind (despite your best efforts). A back injury means I’ll never be a book dealer again (boxes of books are heavy) but I still love old, interesting and beautiful things and the only way I can afford to have such things around is to sell them. So while this website started life as a personal blog its already started to morph into a place to write about things I might have for sale and will, no doubt become a place to sell things.
