Victorian Sorrento Puzzle Box ‘Gibraltar’ Souvenir

A Victorian souvenir Sorrento puzzlebox. The top of the box has a tunbridgeware border within which are painted two swallows and the word ‘Gibraltar’. The box has a ‘secret’ compartment which is accessed by sliding away two panels on the lower edge of the box. The inside of the box is lined with red felt. The key is present and the lock works. Usually the secret compartment is accessed from behind the sliding panel on the side of the box. This one seems to have been altered to make the lower section of the box easier to access. The box is in good working order but there is a small piece missing from the bottom edge on one corner – this can be seen in the main product image.
